“I shall not pray to God for you
for what I think you would
like to have, or ought to have,
of gain or grace or good;
or even for your current dream,
however absolute
lest time should prove we both had begged
for you a bitter fruit…
only remember you with love
without the least request;
and God, who loves you more than I,
will do for you what’s best.”
- Ruth Van Gorder, Friends of Silence Journal (via inward/outward)
There are still many unanswered prayers or at least prayers awaiting the answers the past 7 years. People have come and gone. Moved in and moved out. Near and far. This season I’m drawn back to a more prayerful mode.
For those who are still wrestling with basic issues of allegience …
For those who are plunged into the deep wells of doubt …
For those who are struggling with change or survival …
For those who are new to the faith and also the more veteran …
For those who are wavering or losing their grip …
For those who are circling round and round and not finding a way out …
For those sucked into power stuggles …
For those who have lost the passion they once had ..
For those who are distracted or even lost …
For those whom I may have missed while typing all the above …
I’m “remembering” …
Beautiful, Sivin. Thanks for sharing that poem. It echoes some thoughts I’ve had recently. Being drawn to prayer can only be a signal from our Father, because everything else in life calls us away from prayer. Keep running to Him with all those concerns. Looking forward to seeing you and yours in September.
