I guess, “Home” is what all of us make it to be. By the little effort we chip in, as well as the whole lot we neglect.
Guess who showed up to support the “Fast for the Nation, Peace for Malaysia” Initiative. Many came at very short notice, others indicated their support but unable to come.
The atmosphere was lively, and informal. While there are recognizable faces in the picture, there are also ordinary folk too. We tried our best to get a cross section of people to sign on and show up to say this is one effort ALL of us can do together.
It’s important to note that beyond a certain “feel good” factor at first sight, through the comments on what those who were present supported this initiative, one chooses to join in because we are all pained and distressed by what we see happening in our country.
Malaysia is a peaceful country and it should remain that way forever. Acts of Violence and inciting hatred must have no place in our public life.
Unfortunately, too many cruelties and injustices have happened since the nation’s last birthday.
It is tempting to slip into despair or become revengeful.
Many might even say “what can we do?” Perhaps, we could at least do something if not change the world overnight!
Let us turn our anger and sadness into a positive force for change.
This September 16, let us all combine our efforts to present a meaningful gift for Malaysia on her 46th birthday.
It’s encouraging to read at different blogs as well as comments the desire in ordinary people who care why “Fasting together, and committing to do acts of kindness” as a response to “acts of violence and the incitement of hatred” is the way ALL can participate in overcome evil with good.
let me pick out some comments and responses which caught my attention from a variety of blogs thus far:

A capital idea that the wider community joins with fellow Muslim brethern to fast for our nation that peace, spiritual and material prosperity may appear upon our beloved land. “So powerful is the light of unity that it envelopes the whole earth”
Wishfully it will bring peace and harmony to Malaysians.
“Hoping those arrogant and revengeful be more rational and thoughtful in the coming days.” “To those kinder to be more kindest in the future.”
Forgiveness be given to those mistake malefactors. Contentment of life will be easy to obtain. Malaysia will be developed and promoted to be progressing one of the best countries in the world.

And let us all make a joyful sound so that we can drown out the noise that comes from those insecure in their believes and unfulfilled in their faiths.
Let those who vacillate to hate and anger not have the final say and let not the voice of the insecure, greedy, envious, faithless be the ones that the leaders of this nation accede to.Yes, unfortunately, as it would seem, it is the noise of those filled with hate and anger that seem to be heard, understood and acted upon by our political masters. Let us tell them that it is only the coward that succumbs to these low lifes.
And this fast for the nation, let us make a loud noise about it too so that even the deaf will hear.

A united fast will definitely be worth it if it done in a true spirit of togetherness resulting in a lasting happiness, not a false temporary one.
This fast is not following any religious credo, it is only an united effort for a common good.
It is a chance to deny the flesh together and then eat together, may help to mend hurt feelings and blow fresh air into a country, jaded and tarnished, at the moment, due to the foolishness and insane behaviour of a few, not the many.
The 4th recommendation is appealing.throw in a substantial smile as well and a kind act.what we actually learned from our mothers and not from any religious book
Take the money that you have saved on the food for that day and hand all to the poor.
Good deeds. easily done.

The launch was a little bumpy 🙂 But so far the response has been encouraging whether it’s 76 year old lady signing up or a 13 year old young man excited to be part of this.
Everyone can join in the chorus! Don’t worry about singing in pitch . what’s important is we are singing . and singing together! I’m looking forward especially for those who are in KL/PJ who can join us for a pre-fast meal so we can start the day together on September 16, 5am at Lotus restaurant in PJ (PJ State Cinema)
wow, is that mahadir lokman and reshmonu?
