“Maybe it is not the darkness we fear most, but the silences contained within the darkness. Maybe it is not the absence of the moon that frightens us, but the absence of what we expect to be there. A wedge of long-billed curlews flying in the night punctuates the silences, and their unexpected calls remind us that the only thing we can expect is change.”
I’m reworking tonight’s original BLC Epiphany Alternative Worship Gathering into a time of prayer especially in the light of today’s painful events. Many Christians and those who feel deeply about what has happened need a safe place to express what’s inside us.
Nothing fancy. Just a time that includes moments of silence, reflection, sharing, Holy Communion, and simple prayer.
Time: 8.30 pm – 9.45pm
Venue: Chapel, 1st Floor Luther Centre, No. 4 Jalan Utara, Petaling Jaya.
There will also be another Prayer Vigil at SFX church tonight. The more the better.
Vigil for Justice & Peace
Dear friends,
SFX-ians and fellow Christians. We will continue to pray for peace and safety of all Malaysians in a time like this. Our response is by prayer and supplication.SFX is organising a Vigil for this purpose. Programme starts with Charismatic prayer group meeting from 8 pm to 10 pm (today – 8th Jan 2010) followed by adoration and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament till 6:15 tomorrow morning. We invite all of you to come and pray as a Church for our country. Please do our part to ask as many to come as possible by passing this invitation to everyone. This has the blessing of Father Simon.
As an additional security measure, we must have people attend through the night to protect our Church.
Thanks and God bless
Rachael
Hey Sivin,
I’ll be praying at home tonight. Though I may not be physically there, my spirit is with you. Am distress over what had happened but God is always an assuring God. 🙂
May God’s mercy and grace pour forth on us all in Malaysia.
dewgem ~ that’s ok. Write down your prayer. Take a picture and email it to me. Short it fine.
will be joining in prayer. what scares me is how malay friends i thought were moderate and enlightened immediately joined FB groups calling for “allah” to be limited to islam, almost in response to the bombings. sigh.
