<description>The protestant Jesus.- The models are not exclusive. He could very well be overly critical.

A vicarious substitutional (satisfaction) model with federal representatives can fulfill all these aspects listed in the protestant Jesus and others. It breaks down Jesus into offering a double cure plus a helper from the death at the cross. He is also victorious because he infallibly accomplishes it. Unfortunately, This is not taught much outside of the reformed churches.

I would disagree with all of this author's criticisms. They are all midigated by biblical truth. Maybe He would be better off if he said that they should be taught. I also think the Emergent church is one with little truth.

First, A representative Jesus (second adam) clearly examines Jesus life. Imputed righteousness on our account requires to know what it entailed. The stress on conforming to the image of christ means that his example is not lost either. It need not be just in atonement but in sanctification.

Soli deo Gloria also is the main thrust of everything in between heaven and earth. The act of worship in Romans 12 and in 1 Corinthians (something) clearly makes it a response to what he has done or God himself. Gratitude in God and his glorious doings. This also magnifies such Glory. This is not alone in its basis. Glory is also what moved God to create the world. A desire to see it and worship God for it should be shared with God for He is infinitly good.

Finally, the concentration on salvation is positive. The gospel is not just for an unbeliever. It is of first importance. (1 corinthians 15:3) I am convinced that even a single gospel promise can revive the soul. The gospel helps empower the soul by faith. God does not lie and all promises are yes and amen in him.
