<description>Guys this has struck a chord so apologies for the long comment ;-) this need to look west when discussing the church in Asia fascinates me, there is only one Bible and it does not distinguish by culture though you could say it might reflect the culture of the day/place in which it was written, I am no scholar so is it true that when the disciples started travelling to distant countries to teach the gospel they would have been in the same boat that the missionaries to Asia were ? I for one think that looking back should be to understand our traditions (in my context Lutheran) rather than deconstruct how we got here, Jesus is glad we are here and we can look to him for how we should go forward in meeting his command for us to spread the word, that is when we consider the audience and the best way of getting our message across, on community based living I could not agree more and am glad to be a part of such a community
