Yes Paul. I agree ... and it's in the midst of the conversations we mutually discover truths which change us as well as the TRUTH who confronts/comforts us.

It is fitting that you share snippets of the feeddback "conversation" ... This is a core of what being "emergen" is about :-)

I think we need to fill our blogs with statements like the below...to emphasize speaking in love/kindness even if one disagrees...

"if really pushed for why I would then want to align myself with a 'conversation' that is generally badly maligned and misunderstood, it would simply be the attractiveness of the godly spirit in which the whole "movement" is set and the generally uncharitable spirit in which other camps which fight for truth seem to have."

Whilst it isn't logically necessary for a 'fight 4 truth' to be juxtaposed with a 'uncharitable spirit' (I think writers like John Frame, Winfred Corduan and Greg Boyd embody sharp minds with sensitive hearts towards others), I'm glad more and more people are warning us Christians about this. Really no point having all/absolute truth when we don't treat people right.

"People are more receptive and open simply because they know you genuinely respect and love them - even if you might disagree with them strongly etc."

Two Amens to that, :)

DB, Thanks for the comment. I personally feel there's a wonderful heritage of keeping good theological thinking close to everyday life practice at a personal level and as a community level (cf. church) in those who've gone before us - Luther, Philp Jakob Spener, Kiekergaard, and Bonheoffer (to name a few of my favorites). It's not only great to be part of a current dialogue here and now, it's also wonderful to drew from the resources of the past to learn how they connect the Gospel with the context. A bonus for me now, is how it's a joy to have a chance to facilitate "conversations" beyond our own sphere.
