About the video
This video documents the story of Pastor James Movel Wuye and Imam Muhammad Nurayn Ashafa – how they journeyed from enmity to friendship. The two Nigerian clergymen had been sworn enemies for years and even attempted to have the other killed. A chance meeting in 1995 marked the beginning of the process of reconciliation. By truthfully acknowledging their theological differences and exposing detrimental misperceptions, the pastor and the imam have set forth a model for reconciliation between Christians and Muslims across Nigeria and throughout the world. They believe peace will be achieved through education and dialogue. Wuye and Ashafa appeal to scripture as the basis for reconciliation. Hence, peace and justice is restored through religion, even as it was first violated through religion.

Post-screening discussion
After the screening, there will be a time for participants to share their response and exchange views. Through this, we could explore how to appropriate some of the lessons from Pastor Wuye and Imam Ashafa’s story for our context and perhaps discover a way through the confusion into clarity and conviction.

Brian McLaren – Navigating Through A New Kind of Christianity
Some timely words for everyone of us ..
Science & Christianity : Thinking Things Through with Ron Choong
In my recent piece A Modest Faith? I mentioned that,
“it’s not uncommon to meet sincere zealous Christians who write off even honest inquiry, some would even go as far to say just believe and stop asking all these hard questions. So, I can understand the reaction to unthinking anti-intellectual forms of Christianity. While not everyone will be very sophisticated in their Christian faith, but we are all called to an honest faith with a strong dose of humble inquisitive spirit. To rephrase Ruse’’s words, I would want to be modest in my belief as I seek to continue in the way of Christ."
I supposed seminars like the one below seeks to create a safe space for Christians as well as people of other faiths (or those who are secularist) to engage in some healthy conversations and thinking.
I might show up just to say hi to Ron Choong whom I had some really interesting email exchanges on Palestine. But that’s for another day. Now it’s Science and Christianity!

SCIENCE & CHRISTIANITY
The doctrine of providence shows science as a gift from the God who reveals and desires that we know of Him through both nature and witness (Scriptures). In this seminar, we consider how we may reconcile our ancient faith with modern science.
WHAT DO CHRISTIANS REALLY BELIEVE?
Trust in God assumes a desire to learn more about God. A faith not nurtured by knowledge will remain immature and superficial, vulnerable to doubt and of little use in evangelism. In this seminar, we shall examine the 4 doctrines central to Christian belief – creation, alienation, reconciliation and decision (CARD).
UNDERSTANDING GENESIS 1-11: WHO WROTE WHAT, WHERE, WHEN AND WHY?
The first book in our Bible was not the first book written. Understanding its history and purpose will help us make sense of its curious stories. In this seminar, we shall ask who wrote Genesis 1-11, where and when they did it, and what their purpose was.

T3 refers to ‘Thinking Things Through’. Since we are what we believe, and we believe what we think, it makes sense to think carefully what we think about so that our thoughts may well be thought out.
ACT’s signature T3 seminars provide a theological safe space to deal with sincere questions, as we doubt our way into beliefs. Register ahead of time, read the provided handouts and ask pertinent questions during the Q & A.

A Connected Pastor
A couple of weeks ago, I had an extremely fun and interesting experience thanks to Onn Yeoh (whom apart from his books is probably most known for his Realpolitik podcast with political analyst Ong Kian Ming).
I think the writer for the article Azalea Joy Lee did a pretty good job considering the purpose and limits of the piece. I found myself answering some of the questions easily in a free-flowing manner, while there were times when a pause (perhaps even a struggle?) indicates a much more critical stance to some issues. Of course, a lot of that kind of nuance can’t be included in short podcast and article. I’ll leave it to the readers and listeners to make their own guesses
Next to my personal journey, and primary responsibility in and through a local faith community Bangsar Lutheran Church (that’s where the pastor piece comes in!), an important bonus the extension of ministry beyond those central two spheres such as The Micah Mandate, and also Friends in Conversation got some airtime too!
A connected pastor
Written by Azalea Joy LeeWhen you think “pastor”, IT-savvy isn’t usually the first adjective that comes to mind. However, Sivin Kit is one pastor who has a popular blog, is on Facebook and has a Twitter account.
The story of Sivin’s first foray into the blogosphere is an interesting one. He was turned onto the blogging scene by a friend who offered him a section of his blog so Sivin could put his thoughts on the Web.
After a while, and after changing blog hosts a few times, Sivin finally ended up where he is now at Sivin Kit’s Garden.
