Ewan did pretty well considering the amount of walking he’s done thus far. He enjoys running. But he’s had a couple of falls without too much damage. It’s not going to dampen his zeal to run … “to infinity and beyond!”
So often, when we’re in a new environment, the first month is mainly getting a feel of the surroundings, the dos and don’ts, the buys and not buys, as well as simply figuring out what’s the best route to get from one place to another.
The orientation at Gareth and Elysia’s school was really good. It made me want to become a kid again and go to his school. “Inquiry-based” learning, I like that. I could see the excitement in Gareth and Elysia’s eyes ready for school in August. We might be able to stuff loads of knowledge into our children, but at the end the fire for learning is by igniting it.
It’s nice to know that we’ll have an unexpected public holiday on Thursday. But then again, I might use the public holiday to catch up with some work. It’s not that I’m a workaholic, it’s more like when one needs to spin more than a few plates, I’ll need to keep one going while I had to allocate some attention for another one.
Sometimes, it’s better to introduce information after an event more than before, this was the case for Ewan when he saw the needle during a TB test jab. ROFL. What a brave boy, he survived the trauma. So did the kind Norwegian ladies from the vaccination centre.
The visit to the immigration office at the police station was pleasant today. We arrived a little earlier than the booked appointment time, only to realize that loads of people came after us. The officer had to handle quite a few passports which included getting the Kit kids to sit still for their photos. At least, the experience was better than carrying loads of hand luggage on a plane!
Anyway, I don’t have anything profound for today. Still trying out this Apple wireless keyboard which I really like and works well for my PC setting at my workspace too. The feel is good.
As far as content is concerned, I’m just getting back into the flow of blogging. Hopefully by the end of the week I’d get back to the flow of academic writing and thinking too. That’s the biggest plate I’m spinning now.
