PJ Candlelight Vigil Under the Rain 2 November 2008 Part 2

As the PJ Candlelight vigil was drawing to a close, I must confess when I stepped up on the little box to say a few words I was trembling a little (maybe it was cold or I was so  humbled that Haris was holding the umbrella for me), and concerned whether I was rambling or saying anything coherent (partly because I was really exhausted).  I’m glad a couple of bloggers captured the essence of it 🙂 The bonus reflection on RukunNegara in the Chinese comments are not mine, but I would heartily agree!

“After that Sivin, a Christian spoke “i believes that ISA is against the religion and human rights”. He said ISA sounds like Isa (Jesus) and he doesn’t want it to be related with anything about Jesus.”

-  PJ Wet Candle Vigil 2/11/08

KEPERCAYAAN KEPADA TUHAN (信奉上苍)

KESETIAAN KEPADA RAJA DAN NEGARA (忠于君国)

KELUHURAN PERLEMBAGAAN (维护宪法)

KEDAULATAN UNDANG-UNDANG (尊崇法制)

KESOPANAN DAN KESUSILAN (培养德行)

    Thanks for the link.
It was a very nice speech from you.

After listening to so many religion experts speaking on the vigil nights. I can’t help thinking about our RUKUN NEGARA. Since i was a little girl, we read and recite it at least once in a week during school assembly. But how many of us still remember what does it mean?

The leaders, they claimed to be so “holy”, but why they still do not want to abolish something that against all religions law? Why don’t they try to hear real experts to talk about religion?
    Disappointed…
