Conversation Between Miroslav Volf & David Martin

Posted on 26 May, 2009 by Sivin Kit

I found the first 10 minutes already engaging.  I want to go for 40 winks but believe it or not this is stopping me. What is it about? Professor Miroslav Volf sits down with David Martin, Emeritus Professor of Sociology at the London School of Economics, to discuss the state of faiths in the world…

New Identity. New Future. New Past. Food for thought during afternoon siesta. Nice little accidental discovery again on youtube. 🙂

Random Thoughts While I’m in Room No. 5

Posted on 25 May, 2009 by Sivin Kit

This is the first time I’m staying in Room No. 5 at the Lutheran Mission Bungalow. It’s nice.  I like the table I’m using now facing the garden.  And the weather especially after the rain, is especially refreshing for my need 🙂 The main purpose for me to be here is actually not rest and…

An Evening with Brian McLaren 2009

Posted on 24 May, 2009 by Sivin Kit

Since Brian was so kind to name a good man you should know more about … (whom I fully agree after checking out Ron Martoia’s blog and books!), I thought I’d mention Brian McLaren in this post as a good man we should all pay attention to as well (just in case some don’t know…

What Does Rob Bell Think about the TNIV?

Posted on 23 May, 2009 by Sivin Kit

I use TNIV too partly after hearing the excellent renderings through The Bible Experience (They’ve the whole 66 books!). Of course, there are other versions that I personally like for example, the NASB, the Message and at one time the NLT. The way Rob Bell introduces the TNIV is energizing and fun!

Sivin Kit on the Wrath of God?

Posted on 20 May, 200920 May, 2009 by Sivin Kit

I giggled when I saw the photo the Star used for their article The Wrath of God? I look a little slimmer and younger right? Sure! Because this picture was taken quite a few years ago.  🙂 Anyway, the experience of answering the questions posed by Liz Tai was helpful to force me to work…

N.T. Wright on the Postmodern Movement 2

Posted on 20 May, 2009 by Sivin Kit

“That’s utterly . . . utterly  ridiculous.” The Brits have a great way to express hyperbole. “The doctrine of the fall is never the last word.” This continues from N.T. Wright on Heaven 1. (Thanks to LRPtv)

Random Links #332 on Mission & Reconciliation

Posted on 19 May, 2009 by Sivin Kit

The countercultural vitality of mission Vintage John Stott. We often go to one of two extremes. Either we are so keen to live in the world that we imbibe non-Christian ideas and standards, and become conformed; or we are so keen not to lose our distinctive identity that we withdraw. The best way to avoid…

Wolfram/Alpha: computational knowledge engine

Posted on 18 May, 200918 May, 2009 by Sivin Kit

I was looking forward to the launch of Wolfram/Alpha. Watch the Overview video for about 13 Minutes of introduction. I keyed in sivinkit.net, here’s a snapshot of what I got below.  Impressive. Google Killer? I don’t think so. Duet? By all means! Then I couldn’t resist and typed in “Potato chips”. And wah lah ….
