I believe this is a relevant workshop to get local congregations thinking about how local churches can begin in small ways to engage the public square. Please feel free to join us.
THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH IN THE PUBLIC SQUARE- May 21 & 22 at Luther Centre
A workshop for Church Leaders and Concerned Christians, exploring issues of Person, Power, and Public Leadership in modern day Malaysia and beyond.
About the Workshop: Through an interactive series of discussions and activities, workshop participants will be exposed to the primary theories and methodologies that form the core of Congregation Based Community Organizing efforts in the United States and will be invited to consider ways in which those resources might be used to equip Christians in Malaysia to act on their faith in the Public Square.
About the Facilitator: Peter Harrits, a recent graduate of Yale Divinity School, is an Intern Pastor from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America currently serving with Luther House Chapel here in PJ. He has experience working with faith based community organizing groups in Minnesota and Connecticut and has completed National Training with the Industrial Areas Foundation.
