I remember getting a Christmas card from the new Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi back in 2003. so I was wondering whether he’ll do it again. Well, yes he did. It’s a nice gesture. I wonder how other pastors and church leaders feel when they get this card.
I noticed the card is addressed to you personally.
I don’t mean to pour cold water on a warm and welcome gesture but I can’t help wondering, how did they ever get the names and addresses of all the pastors/elders that received the cards. Surely there must be some breach of privacy here somewhere.
I do think that churches are registered organisations and just like companies / societies, there is a national registrar and i’m sure this information is available to the government. 😉
I think it is for similiar reasons, among others, that some church leaders in China refused to join the official Three Self church.
why so concerned about privacy? isn’t it good for people to know where we stand as followers of Christ?
on the other hand, i think it’s pretty thoughtful of the PM to do it. he don’t have too, u know? but he did and today leaders can definitely learn from this, looking into details.
